The location is simply splendid, especially in winter when the lake is frozen and everything is white with snow. the refuge is very welcoming and the food is delicious (it is advisable to book to be sure to find a table). It is also possible to sleep in the rifugio: it’s a special experience. From the lake starts a path going to the mountain ridge. The rifugio is accessible via a 1 hour walk from the car parking, or by chairlift.
Every time we visit we get great food at a good price and very friendly reception. Great fried porcini this time

Beautiful place
I am writing this review to point out to future customers the need for a sleeping bag if you decide to stay here overnight
winter season! If the manager tells you Saccolenzuolo, don't do like us who trusted him! The heating in the rooms has not been active for a long time apparently! There are 14 of us frozen! There will certainly be an experience closest to the Spartan style if you are looking for that. Excessive prices for what was offered. Then the service I would say was poor and at times rude! As one of their signs on the dining room door says, I would give the same advice 'smile, it's on me'.
We arrived at the refuge after leaving the car there. Gates and on foot we followed path no. 723. Cozy refuge in a beautiful location directly overlooking the lake.
Been there on Saturday. Ate a sandwich and up to that point everything went without infamy or praise (given the large amount of people). After the sandwich we make the "mistake" of heading towards the bar inside the restaurant and asking for a coffee.
The owner points out to us that the bar for us was the one outside (we don't mind, that was the bar for customers sitting inside and we were about to leave), but then immediately suggests we make ourselves a coffee inside anyway.
We accept, and drink coffee at the counter.
Price for 3 coffees: 5 euros and 20 cents.
The price charged outside is 1.30 per coffee.
This is not good publicity.
We won't be returning.
We come every year and it's always a guarantee! The dishes are always excellent. The menu is very traditional. Tagliatelle with deer or wild boar ragù, testaroli and carpaccio or carne salada are always present but other courses vary greatly. The ravioli and goulash, if available, are exceptional! The choice of bitters and liqueurs is also very particular and excellent, with many local products.
Warning: in summer on Fridays and weekends it is very full and many dishes can run out even before 1am. Better to book very early.
Another note: if you plan to use the chairlift, check the timetable carefully.
